Founder & Editor, Goodwillholder

I research and test digital tools for small businesses and freelancers — free plans included — and turn what actually works into practical guides, spreadsheets, and templates.

Why I Started Goodwillholder

Most tool advice online is written for companies with budgets, IT staff, and operations teams. When a freelancer or a five-person business needs to track leads, onboard a client, or pick a CRM, the honest answer is usually smaller than the internet makes it look: a well-designed spreadsheet, a simple checklist, and the habit of following up.

Goodwillholder exists to write that honest version. Every guide here starts with the problem, not the product — and recommends software only when the workflow genuinely outgrows a simpler solution.

What I Do Here

  • Research and test tools hands-on — including their real free plans and limits
  • Build the free spreadsheets, checklists, and templates given away on this site
  • Write the step-by-step guides on lead tracking, client communication, and workflows
  • Re-check pricing and plan limits over time, and update guides when they change

How I Test and Choose Tools

Problem First

The workflow gets defined before any signup page gets opened. A tool that solves the wrong problem well is still the wrong tool.

Hands-On, Not Feature Lists

I run real tasks in the actual product — including the free tier — instead of comparing marketing pages against each other.

Verified Numbers

User caps, contact limits, and storage are checked against the provider’s official pricing page, and noted with the date they were verified.

Honest Verdicts

Every recommendation states who a tool is for, who it isn’t for — and when a plain spreadsheet is the better answer.

See the Work for Yourself

Every guide and template on Goodwillholder was researched, tested, and written by me. If something looks off, tell me — I’ll check it against the source and fix it.
