What stands behind every recommendation on Goodwillholder — and what we do when something changes.
Our Editorial Standards
Every guide and comparison on this site is held to the same five standards:
- Solve a real workflow problem — a guide must fix something, not just describe a product
- Tested, not recycled — recommendations come from hands-on use and official documentation, never from press releases or hype
- Numbers verified at the source — free-plan limits and prices are checked on the provider’s own pricing pages, with the check date noted
- Trade-offs stated up front — including who a tool is not for
- Simple before complex — a spreadsheet or checklist is recommended whenever it genuinely fits
How a Guide Gets Written
- Define the problem first. What workflow is broken, for what size of business? This happens before any tool is opened.
- Shortlist by fit, not fame. Tools make the list because they solve that specific problem — including small or less-marketed ones.
- Test hands-on. Real tasks in the real product, including the free tier — setup time, learning curve, and where it gets frustrating.
- Verify the limits. User caps, contact limits, storage, and pricing are confirmed on official pricing pages and dated.
- Write the honest version. Who it’s for, who it isn’t for, what breaks at the free tier — and when a spreadsheet wins instead.
Affiliates and Monetization
Currently, Goodwillholder earns nothing from its recommendations. There are no sponsored posts, no paid placements, and no affiliate relationships influencing what gets covered.
If and when affiliate links are added, they will be clearly disclosed on the page where they appear — and they will never determine what we recommend or how tools are ranked. A higher commission on a tool we don’t rate changes nothing; we would rather send you to a free spreadsheet.
In short: the recommendation comes first. If a link ever earns this site a commission, you’ll be able to see exactly where that happens.
Updates and Corrections
Free plans, pricing, and features change often — sometimes without announcement. Guides are re-checked periodically, and each shows when it was last updated.
If you spot something outdated or wrong, tell us through the contact page. We verify it against the source and correct the guide — substantial changes, like a free plan being discontinued, are noted and dated inside the guide itself.
